My research concerns team decision making in complex engineered environment, such as commercial aviation and space missions. In various studies I have examined decision making and communication processes on the fight deck as well as between pilots and dispatchers. My current projects focus on the effects of team composition and team training approaches on the interaction and decision sttrategies of small teams, such as flight crews and mission specialists. Funding for my work has been provided by NASA, the National Space Biomedical Research Institute, and the Federal Aviation Agency.
